Atlas Distribution Scores "A Royal Night Out"
Atlas Distribution Company and Ketchup Entertainment lock US Distribution rights for Queen Elizabeth movie
Cannes, France - May 15, 2015 - Atlas Distribution Company and Ketchup Entertainment announced today the acquisition of US distribution rights for the UK hit-film, "A Royal Night Out" (opening wide in the UK today) in a deal negotiated by Hanway Films.
Produced by Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae, and directed by the Julian Jarrold, "A Royal Night Out" is the untold story of a night in 1945 when Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret left Buckingham Palace incognito to join the May 8 VE Day celebrations.
"Queen Elizabeth's name carries with it tremendous respect the World over. She is an amazing woman and this movie is a celebration of her inspirational and bold character," said Atlas Distribution CEO, John Aglialoro.
The movie features Sarah Gadon (Dracula Untold, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and A Dangerous Method), Bel Powley (The Diary of a Teenage Girl, Side by Side), Rupert Everett (Stardust, Shrek 2, My Best Friend's Wedding), Emily Watson (War Horse, The Theory of Everything, The Book Thief), and Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction, Delivery Man).
"When she [Queen Elizabeth] described the night they went out on VE night, she says it is a Cinderella story in reverse," Sarah Gadon, who plays Princess Elizabeth in the film, told an interviewer this month, "I thought that really captured the whole spirit of the film. It wasn't about putting on this dress and becoming a princess. It was becoming a part of the crowd and what that meant to somebody who wanted to feel normal for a night."
